See my guidelines for peer revision in the Week 6 “welcome” document, and comment on your peer’s paper, providing useful feedback and critique that he or she may carry forward in their final draft.
Read your partner’s paper and using the assignment sheet for the paper, look at the list of bulleted points of what the paper is supposed to do. Provide meaningful feedback about where you see good things in the paper. Provide meaningful critique of weaker spots you see in the paper. Provide suggestions, if you have them, about what might be added or where you think the paper might go next. DO NOT get caught up in proofreading and copy editing until you’ve done all the other things above. This exercise is really about the substance and content of the paper, not grammar, spelling, and mechanics, though if you are so inclined and have the time, if you see a recurring error that needs attention, or citation issues that need correction point them out. But please do this LAST and focus on the bigger paper concerns primarily. When you’re done, by Sunday night at 11 PM, please send the paper back to your partner with your comments.
NOTE: If you’re using Word, commenting on a document is easy to do. You simply highlight the area you wish to comment on and hit the “review” tab at the top of the page. Click “New Comment,” and type your comment in the bubble that pops up. Make sure you also click “show comments,” so the comments are visible.
